Rajya Sabha clears Bill to appropriate Rs 54,067-crore excess expenditure
The Rajya Sabha cleared the Appropriation Bill, 2026, authorizing ₹54,067 crore for excess expenditure from the Consolidated Fund of India. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman detailed that ₹196.44 crore was due to a court order affecting the Railway Ministry, while ₹53,871 crore was for debt repayment. The Lok Sabha will now finalize the Bill's approval.
