RBI allows device curbs after 30-day EMI default
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed lenders to restrict the functionality of devices bought on EMI financing after 30 days of default. Restrictions can be gradually imposed, but incoming calls and emergency functions must remain accessible. The RBI also eased disclosure norms for recovery agents, aiming to streamline the recovery process while protecting borrowers' rights.
