RBI holds lending rate at 5.25%, says India ‘fastest growing big economy’
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) maintained its repo rate at 5.25% during its recent Monetary Policy Meeting. Governor Sanjay Malhotra highlighted that India remains the fastest growing large economy, despite projected increases in inflation due to rising oil and food prices. He noted that inflation is expected to peak in the third quarter of 2026 before declining, influenced by sector-specific factors rather than broad-based increases.
