RBI proposes new loan interest-rate framework, tighter rules for floating-rate loans
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) proposed a new framework for loan interest rates, introducing stricter rules for floating-rate loans. The draft regulations, effective from April 1, 2027, will apply to various financial institutions and mandate that floating-rate personal and MSME loans be linked to an external benchmark. This aims to enhance transparency and borrower protections.
