Record heatwave grips Asia as potatoes ‘boil’ in fields, lions perish
An intense heatwave has gripped much of Asia, with South Korea's temperatures nearing 40°C, devastating potato crops. In Yangsan, the temperature reached 42.5°C, the highest since 1904, while Japan reported over 18,000 heatstroke cases. The extreme conditions, exacerbated by Typhoon Dolphin, have also led to the deaths of three lions in a Tokyo zoo.
