₹10 and ₹20 notes may be the first polymer currency as RBI's printing arm invites global bids: Report
The Reserve Bank of India's printing arm, Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Pvt Ltd (BRBNMPL), has invited global bids for the production of polymer ₹10 and ₹20 notes, marking a significant step towards introducing plastic currency in India. This initiative follows RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra's recent comments on the preliminary consideration of polymer banknotes. If successful, the trials could lead to larger orders for additional denominations, with strict security requirements imposed on bidders to safeguard national interests.
