Rs 24,000-crore compressed biogas scheme to cut gas imports cleared
The Union Cabinet approved the 'GOBARdhan' National Circular Bioenergy Scheme, allocating ₹23,731 crore to boost compressed biogas (CBG) production by nearly 10-fold over the next decade. The initiative aims to attract private investment through assured offtake and stable pricing. This move is expected to significantly reduce gas imports and enhance energy sustainability in India.
