Scientists find a simple way to stop cavities without drilling

Researchers at the University of Michigan demonstrated that silver diamine fluoride (SDF) can effectively stop tooth decay in children without drilling, offering a simpler alternative to traditional treatments. In a Phase III clinical trial involving 830 children under age 6, SDF halted decay in over half of the affected baby teeth when applied biannually. This low-cost treatment could significantly reduce the need for invasive procedures and improve dental health outcomes for young children suffering from cavities.
