Stock markets sink over 2% as Trump calls off Iran truce deal
Indian stock markets fell over 2% on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump cancelled the peace deal with Iran, erasing approximately ₹10 lakh crore in market capitalisation. The benchmark Sensex closed down 1,677.12 points at 76,503.60, while the Nifty 50 dropped 2.1% to 23,882.05, as crude oil prices surged by 6% to $79-$80 a barrel. Analysts predict continued volatility in Indian equities due to deteriorating global risk sentiment and rising inflationary fears linked to higher crude prices.
