Stock markets surge 1.6% on hopes of LTCG, STT relief
Stock markets surged 1.6% on Tuesday as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman suggested the government would consider removing long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax during Budget consultations. The Sensex rose 1,109.10 points to 73,033.78, while the NSE Nifty increased by 358.60 points to 22,721.95. Investors are hopeful for tax relief, following a year of market decline.
