Study maps indigenous communities’ use of 75 edible beetle species
A study by entomologists at the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment documented 75 edible beetle species used by indigenous communities in Northeast India. The nutritional analysis of four beetle species showed protein content ranging from 22.43% to 61% of dry weight. This research highlights the importance of these beetles in local diets and biodiversity.
