The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suspended around 25 activists and issued show-cause notices to over 300 members in West Bengal due to rising extortion allegations. State BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya acknowledged that some party members are involved in corrupt practices reminiscent of the previous Trinamool Congress regime. The BJP aims to address this issue through new helplines launched by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
