This popular fermented food may help flush nanoplastics from the body

Researchers at the World Institute of Kimchi found that a lactic acid bacterium from kimchi can bind to nanoplastics in the intestine, promoting their removal from the body. The strain Leuconostoc mesenteroides CBA3656 demonstrated an adsorption efficiency of 57% under simulated human conditions, suggesting its potential for reducing nanoplastic accumulation. Further studies are expected to explore its application in human health.
