U.S. FDA approves first mRNA flu shot from Moderna

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Moderna's mFlusiva flu vaccine for adults aged 50 and older, marking the first mRNA-based flu vaccine approved for seasonal use. Clinical trials involving over 40,000 adults demonstrated that mFlusiva was 26.6% more effective than standard-dose flu vaccines. Moderna plans to conduct further studies to confirm the vaccine's efficacy in seniors aged 65 and older, with analysts projecting significant revenue generation for the vaccine starting in 2027.
