US small businesses mount first challenge to US Section 301 tariffs
Two US small businesses, Burlap & Barrel and Collective Horology LLC, have filed the first legal challenge against Section 301 tariffs imposed by the United States on imports from 60 countries, including a 10% duty on India. They argue that the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) failed to provide a justified explanation for the uniform duties applied across economies with different trade profiles. This case is particularly relevant for India, which is considering a trade deal with the US contingent on gaining a competitive edge over ASEAN nations.
