Wearable ultrasound patch boosts REM sleep without drugs or surgery

Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin developed a wearable ultrasound patch, NEUSLeeP, that enhances REM sleep without drugs or surgery. In a study of 28 participants, the patch allowed users to enter REM sleep 43 minutes sooner and stay in that stage 16 minutes longer, benefiting both healthy sleepers and those with sleep difficulties. The technology may also improve stress response and emotional health, indicating potential applications for treating sleep disorders at home.
