What does the new research on Vitamin B12-based therapy for brain cancer reveal?
New research published in Oncoscience reveals that a modified form of vitamin B12, known as nitrosylcobalamin (NO-Cbl), shows promise in targeting glioblastoma multiforme, a deadly brain cancer. This innovative approach allows NO-Cbl to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and selectively kill tumor cells, a significant challenge in current cancer treatments. Although still in preclinical stages, the findings could pave the way for more effective therapies against this aggressive cancer.
