What India’s new CAFE-III fuel-efficiency norms mean for carmakers, small cars and EVs
India's new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE)-III norms will take effect from April 2027, requiring carmakers to manage the fuel efficiency of their entire vehicle portfolios. The updated regulations eliminate special concessions for small petrol cars and provide significant compliance benefits for electric vehicles. These rules will apply to M1 category passenger vehicles until March 2032.
