1.5 million Pakistani children face online sexual exploitation, reveals UNICEF report
- Around 1.5 million Pakistani children aged 12–17 faced technology-facilitated sexual exploitation or abuse in one year.
- Around 85% of perpetrators were known to victims, with grooming often starting through gaming, social media or romance.
- 71% of victims did not tell anyone about the abuse, while none reported it to police, helplines or social workers.
- Around 44% of reported abuse happened entirely online, with Snapchat and WhatsApp among the commonly used platforms.
