346 days for a US visa: Why Indian applicants face long waits
- Indian applicants for US visitor visas faced an average 346-day interview wait in FY2025, the longest among countries assessed.
- The long queues are linked to a surge in visa demand after Covid-19 and limited consular staffing.
- B1/B2 tourist and business visa waits remain especially long, with Hyderabad applicants facing about 12 months for the next appointment.
- Wait times vary by city, with Mumbai at 11.5 months, Delhi 10 months, Chennai 7.5 months and Kolkata 6.5 months.
