- A Supreme Court-appointed task force survey found 9% of students reported suicidal thoughts in the past year.
- Around 15% reported prolonged distress or anxiety in the previous six months, based on 2.43 lakh responses.
- The National Task Force NTF, formed in March last year, will submit its final report by 31 October.
- The survey follows recent student suicides at IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, renewing concern over mental health support.
