Anant Nag says PM Modi changed how India picks award winners
- Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag, selected for the 2024 Dadasaheb Phalke Award, said award selection earlier involved “nepotism” and “favouritism”.
- Nag said PM Modi changed the system by asking people to publicly recommend names for the Padma Awards.
- He said Kannadigas recommended his name and credited public support for his recognition, while dedicating the honour to the people of Karnataka.
- Nag, 78, has completed 50 years in cinema and acted in over 250 films across Kannada, Hindi and other languages.
