Australia bans AI-generated tracks from ARIA charts to protect artists' livelihoods
- Australia’s music industry will ban fully AI-generated tracks from its official charts from next week.
- The new rules will still allow AI-assisted music if humans wrote the song and performed the lead vocals and primary instruments.
- The move follows an AI-assisted version of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” reaching No. 2 and spending 16 weeks in Australia’s Top 20.
- ARIA says the rules aim to protect the human element of music, as AI-generated content becomes more common.
