Bengaluru Police file Zero FIR over ‘purification’ after Kharge’s Haldwani rally
- Bengaluru Police have registered a Zero FIR against Uttarakhand BJP members over an alleged “purification ritual” at Haldwani’s Ramlila Ground.
- The ritual allegedly took place after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a rally at the venue on August 8.
- The complaint alleges the ritual suggested the venue became “impure” because Kharge belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, calling it an act linked to untouchability.
- The FIR cites provisions under the Protection of Civil Rights Act, SC/ST Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita; the case will be transferred to Haldwani for investigation.
