Cabinet approves 850 fast-track courts to speed up rape and POCSO trials

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved 850 fast-track special courts for rape and POCSO cases.
The network grows from 779 courts, including 399 exclusive POCSO courts, with Rs 3,788.04 crore allotted.
Each court gets a judicial officer, a special public prosecutor and six support staff.
The scheme covers 29 states and Union Territories, with districts chosen by case pendency.
