Canadian inventor builds a flying umbrella that follows him automatically, hands-free
- Canadian engineer John Tse built a drone-powered umbrella using a hidden quadcopter system beneath the canopy.
- It uses a depth-sensing camera to map the user's position, letting it follow at walking speed without being held.
- Unlike earlier manual versions, the latest model operates autonomously without needing constant steering.
- The prototype has a 10-15 minute battery life and hovers several metres above the user for safety.
