Centre opens Andaman Sea mineral blocks for auction to boost domestic supplies
- • The Centre invited bids for two offshore mineral blocks in the Andaman Sea, Outreach held on October 13.
- Sewell Rise-01 and West Sewell Ridge-01 together cover 1,632 square kilometres of seabed.
- The blocks contain cobalt, nickel, copper, manganese and rare earth minerals used in batteries and electronics.
- A pre-bid meeting is set for November 4, while companies can submit their bids until December 28.
