Centre rejects claims of foreign pressure behind new UPI charges

- Under the new framework, a 0.4% Merchant Discount Rate MDR will apply to some UPI transactions above ₹2,000 from October 15.
- Payments up to ₹2,000, person-to-person transfers and small-business QR payments will remain free under the framework.
