China urges US to stop preparing for war in space after orbital weapons confirmation
- China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged the US on Tuesday to stop preparing for war in space.
- Guo said China opposes the weaponisation of space and its transformation into a battlefield or arms race.
- This followed US Air Force Secretary Troy Meink's confirmation on Monday of space-based weapons deployment.
- Experts suggest the weapon could be an electronic warfare platform or a kinetic kill vehicle targeting satellites.
