Congress MLA resigns over Indi, Chadchan exclusion from Karnataka drought list
- Congress MLA Yashvanta Rayagouda V Patil resigned from the Karnataka Assembly over two taluks being left off the drought-hit list.
- Patil’s Vijayapura constituency has Indi and Chadchan taluks, while 11 of the district’s 13 taluks were declared drought-hit.
- Patil said he had repeatedly asked the government to include the two taluks, but felt his appeals were not being heard.
- CM DK Shivakumar said drought status is based on rainfall data and set criteria, not individual MLAs’ demands.
