Congress MPs deny support for 0.4% MDR on UPI payments, dispute Centre's claims

- Tewari said details such as the MDR rate, fee amount, transaction ceiling and exemptions were never placed before the Finance Committee.
- The Centre had claimed five Congress MPs, including P Chidambaram and Tewari, supported a tiered MDR and revenue framework for UPI.
- The panel’s report said UPI faces a funding gap, with ₹2,000 crore allocated against an estimated industry cost of ₹20,700 crore.
