Cyclone Arnab: Here's who named it and why it got its name
- • Cyclone Arnab was named by Bangladesh, and the word “Arnab” means sea or ocean in Bengali.
- It formed over the Bay of Bengal when a low-pressure system strengthened into a cyclonic storm.
- Bangladesh suggested the name in 2020. The cyclone received it because it was next on the pre-approved list of 169 names submitted by 13 countries.
- The India Meteorological Department IMD assigns these names in order to make weather warnings clear and avoid confusion.
