From Sirpur’s temples to the Andaman volcanoes, three sites enter UNESCO’s list
- Three Indian sites have been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List.
- Two are in the Andamans: Baratang’s karst and mud volcano complex, along with the Barren and Narcondam volcanoes.
- The third is Sirpur in Chhattisgarh, a riverside site with temples and Buddhist monasteries from the fifth century.
- Tentative List entry is only the first step. Each site must still go through nomination and evaluation.
