Government increases domestic gas price ceiling to $9.89/MMBtu for difficult fields
- The government raised the natural gas price ceiling for difficult fields to $9.89 per MMBtu, up from $8.90, from October.
- The new ceiling applies from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, per a Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell notification.
- Gas from ONGC and OIL's legacy fields remains capped at $7 per MMBtu, despite a notified APM price of $11.22.
- New-well gas from ONGC and OIL's nomination blocks can fetch up to $7.70 per MMBtu, a 10% premium over APM price.
