Government to pay AI specialists double a Cabinet Secretary's salary
- The Modi government is willing to pay AI specialists up to Rs 4.58 lakh a month, or about Rs 55 lakh a year.
- The rate is nearly double the Rs 2.5 lakh monthly basic pay of the Cabinet Secretary, India’s highest-ranking civil servant.
- The rates cover roles including AI/ML leads, AI architects and data science leads, with niche specialists eligible for nearly Rs 4.81 lakh a month.
- The hiring framework was created by NeGD under MeitY to help ministries, states and PSUs directly hire AI talent through empanelled firms.
