Hyderabad under yellow alert as northeast monsoon brings three days of rain

• The India Meteorological Department IMD issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, forecasting northeast monsoon rains from October 17 to 19.
Light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected across Hyderabad and nearby districts.
Hyderabad recorded only 458.5 mm rainfall in 2026 against the normal 627.5 mm this southwest monsoon.
The rainfall shortage has increased water tanker demand, with Hyderabad recording around 6,500 bookings daily in October.
