IIT Hyderabad sees 74% rise in students seeking mental health support over four years
- Students seeking counselling at IIT Hyderabad, Telangana, rose 74%, from 290 in 2021 to 505 in 2025.
- Around 2,406 students accessed the institute's Sunshine Wellness Centre between 2021 and 2025.
- Academic pressure, loneliness, anxiety and difficulty adjusting to campus life were the main concerns reported.
- IIT Hyderabad raised its mental health budget from ₹2.44 lakh to ₹17.90 lakh and now has three dedicated counsellors.
