India moves closer to 2036 Olympics as IOC confirms seven contenders
- India is among seven countries in talks with the International Olympic Committee to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.
- The other contenders are Qatar, Germany, Hungary, Turkey, South Africa and South Korea.
- India’s bid is centred on Ahmedabad, and the country submitted its formal Letter of Intent to the International Olympic Committee IOC in October 2024.
- The IOC plans to shortlist candidates by March 2027, with the final host expected to be chosen in mid-2029.
