Indian women’s hockey team leaves for Asian Games, eyes gold and Olympic qualification
- The Indian women's hockey team left Bengaluru on Tuesday for the Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.
- Winning gold there would take them straight to the 2028 Olympics, with no qualifying tournament to play.
- They missed that route in 2023, taking bronze at Hangzhou while the men won gold and took the Paris quota.
- But they arrive in better form now, fifth at the World Cup this year, their best placing since 1974.
