- Indian Railways is building its first dedicated high-speed test track near Nawa in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur Division, about 70 km from Jaipur.
- The ₹967-crore facility is designed to test Vande Bharat and other trains at speeds of up to 220 kmph, without using busy passenger routes.
- High-speed trials are expected from 2027-28, allowing engineers to test safety, stability and performance before new trains enter regular service.
