Indonesia cancels flights at Jakarta airport as Anak Krakatau volcano erupts
- Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta suspended flights until 9:30 am on Sunday due to volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.
- The eruption, which began late Friday, sent ash plumes as high as 50,000 feet over parts of Sumatra and Java.
- The disruption affected 33 flights, including international services, with cancellations, delays and rescheduled flights.
- Authorities said there was no immediate tsunami threat, while residents were urged to wear masks and eye protection amid ashfall.
