IT ministry asks Meta to review Facebook, Instagram algorithms, flags misleading content

The IT ministry asked Meta on 10 October to review how Facebook and Instagram recommend content.
It flagged old visuals passed off as current events, edited footage and unverified claims.
It asked Meta to show more varied content so users are not fed a narrow range of narratives.
Meta has also been told to cooperate promptly with law enforcement and report back.
