Jio enters its next chapter, moving beyond telecom into AI, cloud and digital infrastructure

Jio launched in India in 2016, cutting mobile data costs and rapidly expanding internet access across the country.
By March 2026, Jio had 524.4 million users, including 268.5 million 5G subscribers, and carried nearly 60% of India’s wireless data traffic.
Jio is now expanding beyond telecom into AI, cloud computing, smart devices, private 5G, cybersecurity and enterprise services.
Its next phase includes JioBrain, JioCloud PC, satellite broadband and a Made-in-India 5G stack, aiming to build more of its technology in-house.
