JNU dismisses professor following inquiry into sexual harassment complaints

Jawaharlal Nehru University dismissed Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam on October 9 following an internal committee inquiry.
At least 10 students had accused the professor of sexual harassment and submitted complaints to the university.
The university said its Internal Committee investigated the allegations and recommended major punishment under applicable service rules.
The dismissal order cited due process and the committee’s findings as the basis for terminating his university service.
