Mecca on alert as Saudi Arabia warns of potential missile and drone threat
- Saudi Arabia issued a “potential danger” alert for Mecca, with warnings also sent to Jeddah, Yanbu, Taif and Tabuk.
- The alerts, which can signal a possible missile or drone threat, were lifted within minutes, authorities said.
- The warning came less than 10 days after Saudi Arabia said it intercepted a Houthi drone near Mecca, which the group denied.
- A Greek-operated Patriot system separately intercepted a ballistic missile and a drone in the wider Yanbu region, Reuters reported.
