Mumbai Cricket Association becomes first state body to offer equal pay to men and women
- The Mumbai Cricket Association has become the first state cricket body to award equal annual retainers to men and women players.
- A total of 22 players, including 14 men and eight women, will receive contracts for the 2026-27 season.
- Players in Grades A, B and C will receive the same retainers of ₹12 lakh, ₹8 lakh and ₹6 lakh respectively, regardless of gender.
- The contracts aim to provide financial security to domestic players who are not centrally contracted by the BCCI or part of its targeted groups.
