Mumbai duo turns 3,200 kg of broken Ganpati idols into 760 study tables for children
- Mumbai sees around 1.5 lakh plaster of Paris Ganpati idols immersed every year, creating nearly 675 tonnes of waste.
- Malhar Kaalambe and innovator Dr Binish Desai developed Murticycle technology to recycle broken POP idols after visarjan.
- In two years, they used over 3,200 kg of recycled POP to make 760 study tables for children across Maharashtra.
- Each recycled study table helps avoid about 5.46 kg of CO₂ emissions by reducing the use of new materials.
