NASA releases images of 60-foot crater left by SpaceX rocket on Moon
- NASA on Tuesday released images of a 60-foot-wide crater from a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage striking the Moon on August 5.
- The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured the images between August 11 and 12, six days after the impact.
- The Falcon 9 launched in January 2025 carrying Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost 1 lunar lander before striking the Moon.
- Korea's Danuri orbiter published the first crash site images on August 6, with NASA and Korean teams locating the crater.
