NASA’s Hubble and Webb spot 27 icy objects beyond Neptune
- NASA announced on September 8 that Hubble and Webb had discovered 27 icy objects orbiting beyond Neptune.
- The smallest object is around 5 km wide, five times smaller than those detectable by ground telescopes.
- Hubble studied visible light, while Webb used infrared light to measure their colours, sizes and orbits.
- Their surfaces may still hold clues about how the building blocks of planets formed billions of years ago.
