Nasscom plays down the green card freeze on eight IT firms, including TCS and Infosys

The US Labour Department has suspended eight technology firms from the PERM green card programme.
They include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Capgemini, Microsoft and Adobe.
Nasscom says relatively few employees actually move from H-1B to permanent residency through PERM.
It argues Indian firms have cut their H-1B dependence and expanded local hiring in the US over the years.
